Collins Community Credit Union Announces Plans for New Corporate Headquarters in Cedar Rapids

CEDAR RAPIDS, Iowa – Collins Community Credit Union, based in Cedar Rapids, Iowa, has announced plans to build a new 86,000-square foot corporate headquarters building at 1005 Blairs Ferry Road NE in the Northtowne Market development across from Target. The building will also feature retail and office space for co-tenants. Northtowne Market is an approximately 35 acre, $70 million dollar mixed-use commercial development. An ownership entity
comprised of Collins Community Credit Union, Hunter Companies, developer of the Northtowne Market Project, and Ambrose Development, Inc. will develop the site. Hunter Construction Corporation will design and construct the facility. Gerry Ambrose, Ambrose & Associates Realtors of Coralville, Iowa, assisted Collins Community Credit Union with site selection and will be the leasing agent.
Collins Community Credit Union has grown to become one of the largest credit unions in the state of Iowa with more than 300 employees and branches throughout Eastern Iowa and the Des Moines Metro Area. With rapid growth and expansion grew the need to build a corporate headquarters. The new building will provide Collins employees space to communicate, collaborate, strategize, and innovate.

Hunter Companies is a design-build construction company based in Cedar Rapids, Iowa. For 20 years Hunter Companies has provided clients with full-service development expertise from the beginning conceptual stage of a project all the way to the celebratory ribbon cutting. “We are honored to have been selected by Collins Community Credit Union to collaborate on this project” said Saren Johnson, Project Manager of Hunter Companies. “The building will be first class and will position the credit union well for growth and expansion into the coming decades.”
Ambrose Development, Inc. is a development company headquartered in Coralville, Iowa. In addition to its partnership with Hunter Companies and Ambrose Development, Inc., Collins Community Credit Union is working with Aspect, Inc. of Cedar Rapids, Iowa and Saxton, an Iowa based commercial interior solutions company.
Aspect, Inc. provides client-focused architectural design for commercial, retail, office and similar projects. Aspect customizes its architectural services to address its clients’ needs and with this project is bringing its experience to bear on designing a functional and dynamic building befitting the new headquarters of Collins Community Credit Union. “This project is exciting for us and we look forward to working with the credit union to design a building that will really serve its needs and adapt to changes over time” says John Gabrielson, lead designing architect of Aspect, Inc.

The headquarters will feature a large, flexible work environment for the Collins team and common space for the other groups and organizations in the community to host meetings, events, and gatherings.
“This building will be a community-focused space for not only our internal Collins team and membership, but the community we share with the towns where we live and work,” said Board Chairwoman Marsha Schulte. “We hope to provide for members and nonmembers alike and share the credit union vision of ‘people helping people.’”
